The decision to build this mosque was issued by the Ottoman Sultan “Ahmed I” in the year “1590 AD 1617 AD” and its construction was completed on January 4, 1610 AD, so it is called the Sultan Ahmed Mosque after him, as Sultan Ahmed himself came and performed the first An ax strike in the construction of the mosque, and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque was the first Sultani mosque to be built more than four hundred years ago, and it was built under the supervision of the engineer Muhammad Agha, one of the students of the famous architect Sinan.

The Sultan Ahmed Mosque is astonishing in its size, design and luxury. It is considered one of the most beautiful mosques not only in Turkey, but in the Islamic world as a whole. It enjoys great admiration and interest from Turks and Arab and foreign tourists. The mosque is located in Sultan Ahmed Square. In the old town of Istanbul, south of the Hagia Sophia Museum and east of the Byzantine Hippodrome. It is distinguished by its location overlooking the Marmara Sea and opposite the Hagia Sophia Museum.
